www.RelayForLife.org/lawrencecountyin My email address is Kimberly1055@sbcglobal.net

Have a wonderful day!
God bless our troops!
Kim

Also, keep your eye out for a date for a Packing Party! The Girl Scouts have delivered cookies to us to send to the Troops. Nancy is on Spring Break this week, but we will be setting a date soon.

Don't forget to update addresses and especially let us know if someone has come home!

And, now that the weather is starting to act like Spring, the next MOMS meeting will be the Tour of Iraq on April 7th at Thorton Park. Exercise helps your body to feel better and fellowship with other Moms (and fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers) eases your mind. Nancy will provide the time when she returns.

On April 1st, Sesame Street “Coming Home” special will air nationwide on PBS at 8 p.m. This is an inspiring show about warriors returning home with injuries, visible and invisible, and how they and their families cope. Don't miss it!

The American Red Cross Hoosier Hills Chapter and the First Church of God co-hosted a 'Sneak Peek' last Monday. We can repeat the presentation for any groups who might want to learn how to support our military families when the soldier comes home - even those who do not have injuries. We highly recommend that children watch “Coming Home” with a parent or caregiver who can answer any questions they may have.

God Bless our Troops and the families they leave behind!

Greetings!

First, I would like to say what a wonderful time I had at the Cloverleaf on Friday evening! Good food and good company--it was great! We had 17 people there and, if you didn't make it, I hope you get a chance to join us at our next dinner out! The Cloverleaf was wonderful, but do you have any other suggestions as to where else you would like to meet?

I would like to pass on some info I found in the Bedford paper:

--A free presentation on the psychological effects of war is set for Monday at Ivy Tech Community College. The lecture by Ivy Tech adjunct instructor of psychology Fred Nolan is titled "Combat Trauma (PTSD)--The Invisible Wounds and The Invisible War Back Home for Troops and Their Families." The lecture begins at 6 pm in Lamkin Hall on the Ivy Tech campus, 200 Daniels Way, Bloomington.

--OPERATION PURPLEChildren of Lawrence County military families are invited again this year to participate in a camp experience designed to recognize their unique stresses. The National Military Family Association is host to the popular camp, known as "Operation Purple." Two camps are planned for this year. Dates will be June 28 to July 3 and July 26 to 31. Applicants will be accepted from all military children ages 7 through 16. Camps are free to all participants. Military children who attend camp will have the opportunity to learn the skills to cope with the stress of a deployment and make friends with other kids who are also missing their mom or dad. Applications for the camp are accepted only online. Eligible families should sign up at www.operationpurple.org to receive email notices and camp updates.

God Bless Our Troops and their families back home!

--Anyone interested in being a part of the "HHAFFA Hoofers" team for RELAY FOR LIFE this year, please contact our Team Captain, Kim Johnson at kimberly1055@sbcglobal.net Last year, we had a GREAT time and raised over $2000 for the American Cancer Society. For more information, and/or to join the team, please contact Kim ASAP!

--Please email me by this Wednesday, if you would like to join us at the Cloverleaf Restaurant for fun and good food (they have great pulled pork) this Friday, March 6 at 6 pm.

From Betsy:
Reminder to military families: The American Red Cross Hoosier Hills Chapter has a 'Hellos from Home' program. Military families can send a personal video to a family member in the military as long as they have his or her email address. The military member does not have to be deployed, but can be stationed here in the States. Please call the Hoosier Hills Chapter (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) at 275-5162 (or from Orange and Martin Counties toll free 866-599-9951) to set up a time. Videos can be scheduled evenings and weekends.

During the last packing party, Maria Edwards videotaped our group at work, with a few people saying a few words to our young men in the Armed Forces. Go to www.hhredcross.org click on the "Hellos from Home" link, and then on the Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families link to view it. Remember that families can send the www.hhredcross.org link to their service member, and the service members can see us, too!!!

Hope to see you soon!
God Bless Our Troops and their families back home!
