We've begun to receive a few "thank you"s for the GS cookies sent, and I thought I would share one of these. Remember, that our young men and women DO appreciate what we do for them--it's a wonderful reminder to them that the folks back home support them!!!!
Dear Nancy,
I'm writing to thank you for the case of Girl Scout Cookies that I recently received. They were a huge hit with my guys/gals and unfortunately were all gone within minutes. I was able to grab a sleeve and enjoyed them with a glass of UHT milk. I received an additional package a few weeks back and passed along the goodies to my division. Just like my last ship, they were amazed that my hometown would go to such measures to take of those that are away from home. Please pass along a hearty "Thank You!" to those who donated and packed up the boxes.
Very Respectfully,
ENS Travis Wade
Assistant Operations Officer
USS Preble DDG-88wadet@ddg88.navy.mil
CHANGE IN WEEKLY WALK!!!!! We will now meet on MONDAYS at 6 pm at the Thornton Pavilion for our weekly walk! Hope to see you there!!!!

Greetings!

Many thanks go out to the 11 folks who helped pack about 50 boxes full of Girl Scout cookies! I'm sure our young men and women will enjoy their GS cookies! I hope they can get their hands on a nice, big glass of milk!!!

The "Tour of Iraq" scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th is still on--but watch the weather report!! If it is raining, snowing, freezing rain or just freezing--I'm staying home!!!! If the weather holds out--we will meet at the Thornton Pavilion at 6 pm and walk and talk and enjoy each others' company!

It's a great opportunity to share, show we care and get ready for . . . Relay for Life!!!!! Please contact our Team Captain, Kim Johnson at kimberly1055@sbcglobal.net ASAP, if you would like to be a HHAFFA Hoofer! Last year we had a GREAT time and raised over $2000 for the American Cancer Society.

Reminder to military families: The American Red Cross Hoosier Hills Chapter has a 'Hellos from Home' program. Military families can send a personal video to a family member in the military as long as they have his or her email address. The military member does not have to be deployed, but can be stationed here in the States. Please call the Hoosier Hills Chapter (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) at 275-5162 (or from Orange and Martin Counties toll free 866-599-9951) to set up a time. Videos can be scheduled evenings and weekends.

During the last packing party, Maria Edwards videotaped our group at work, with a few people saying a few words to our young men in the Armed Forces. Go to www.hhredcross.org click on the "Hellos from Home" link, and then on the Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families link to view it. Remember that families can send the www.hhredcross.org link to their service member, and the service members can see us, too!!!

Hope to see you all soon!
God Bless Our Troops and their families back home!!
