Happy Valentines Day!

About 10 people met last Tuesday evening to pack boxes for our young men serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. We packed goodies, books, toiletries and valentines from the community and local schoolchildren. We had our Quarterly Meeting where we discussed past and future activities and listened to our treasurer's report. If you would like a copy of any Quarterly Meeting's minutes, just let me know, and I will forward it to you.

Upcoming activities--

1) FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER We will meet at 6 pm on March 6th at the Cloverleaf Restaurant for a little social time with other HHAFFA members. If you would like to join me, please RSVP by Tuesday, MARCH 3rd, so that I may make reservations.

2) We will be packing Girl Scout cookies to send to our deployed troops at the end of March/early April. I will let you know as soon as we figure out the details!

Also--
Reminder to military families: The American Red Cross Hoosier Hills Chapter has a 'Hellos from Home' program? Military families can send a personal video to a family member in the military as long as they have his or her email address. The military member does not have to be deployed, but can be stationed here in the States. Please call the Hoosier Hills Chapter (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) at 275-5162 (or from Orange and Martin Counties toll free 866-599-9951) to set up a time. Videos can be scheduled evenings and weekends.

Hope Flores has a son serving in the Coast Guard. His 21st birthday was February 13th, and he spent it at sea. His mom would really like him to know that the people back home are thinking about him and supporting him. So, if you could send a birthday greeting his way, he (and his mother) would greatly appreciate it!
His address is:

Weekly Newsletter

Greetings on this beautiful, sunny WARM Sunday afternoon!

A few reminders--

1) Don't forget about our QUARTERLY MEETING this Tuesday, February 10th at 6 pm in the HHAFFA office (620 H St). We will also be packing boxes for our service members who are now in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will include Valentines made by schoolchildren, as well as goodies left over from the Christmas packing and a few new treats we've received! We will also organize our MOMS (Mothers of Military Servicemembers) support group, and decide upon a schedule and activities.

2) Reminder to military families: The American Red Cross Hoosier Hills Chapter has a 'Hellos from Home' program? Military families can send a personal video to a family member in the military as long as they have his or her email address. The military member does not have to be deployed, but can be stationed here in the States. Please call the Hoosier Hills Chapter (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) at 275-5162 (or from Orange and Martin Counties toll free 866-599-9951) to set up a time. Videos can be scheduled evenings and weekends. Videos can be sent to the family email address so the video can be sent on Valentine's Day to their soldier, sailor, marine, or airman. A great way to send a special Valentine Greeting to someone in the military!

Also--Relay for Life is getting ready for their big Kickoff event. I am unable to be the organizer and Team Captain this year, because of a commitment through June! I am looking for a volunteer to take my place. The job involves rounding up a team, attending meetings, relaying information to the team, gathering donations from team members, and organizing activities the day of the event. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know ASAP! You may go to www.relayforlife.org/lawrencecountyin for more information.

Hope to see you Tuesday!!!!
God Bless Our Troops and their families back home!
