Newsletter 10/03/2009

Greetings on a beautiful Sunday evening! Beautiful football weather (Colts win!), apple season (I had Apple Crisp for dessert tonight!) and 'tis the season to plan for upcoming

HHAFFA activities--including Christmas! Our next Quarterly Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 26th at 6 pm in the HHAFFA office (620 H St). At this time, we will be discussing the future of HHAFFA. Betsy and I have discussed a few options, including merging with other groups, like the Blue Star Mothers of America, disbanding due to lack of participants and volunteers, or continuing as HHAFFA IF more people step up and take over leadership roles! We need someone NOW who will take over keeping track of names and addresses of active duty service members. Call Betsy at 279-8880 for details. We need a volunteer NOW who will take over the leadership of the MOMS/Spouses support group. We need someone NOW to be in charge of organizing our entry into parades. Please come to the Quarterly Meeting on Oct 26th ready to volunteer to become a leader.

We WILL be sending Christmas boxes to our service members again this year--but with a twist! We will be sending a box full of home baked Christmas cookies and candies and other Christmas treats, along with Christmas cards from children, to every active duty service member who will be away from home at Christmas time this year--whether it be in Ft. Knox, KY or Kabul, Afghanistan!! More info at the Quarterly Meeting!

THANK YOU for all your prayers for my sister-in-law. JoEllen is home, goes to see her oncologist in Greenwood on Wednesday to schedule her radiation and chemo treatments (PREVENTATIVE ONLY!!!!). MD Anderson Hospital in Houston is truly a life saver! Betsy is recovering from her surgery at home, and she begins her radiation treatments on Oct 19th. She looks great and has received wonderful support from her family and friends! Please keep both in your thoughts and prayers!

God Bless Our Troops!
