Weekly Updates

Greetings! We are entering a busy season for HHAFFA, so get ready!!!

*******************************************************************
--REMINDER: Quarterly Meeting is Tuesday, June 9th at 6 pm in the HHAFFA Office (620 H St--park in the back, enter in the back, first office on the right). Please plan to attend, so we can discuss upcoming events and discuss concerns!
*******************************************************************

--We are entered in the 4th of July Parade. It would be wonderful to have many, many people riding and walking with the HHAFFA unit, wearing red, white and blue, carrying signs in support of our troops, pushing decorated baby strollers, waving flags . . . Please plan to participate!! Along with that--George and Lisa Sallade need help decorating the float. If you can be of assistance, please call them at 275-7720 to offer your assistance.

--We have scheduled the Candlelight Ceremony for Sunday, June 28th to honor our military personnel. Please plan to attend to help honor those young men and women!

--We will meet on Monday, June 8th at 6 pm at the Thornton Pavilion for our weekly walk. After that, we will meet at 7 pm, but at different locations throughout the county. I will let you know in each newsletter where we will be meeting the following week for our walk!

--Thanks to all who sent Sgt Thornhill a birthday card! Keep him in your prayers and send him a note occasionally! We just observed the 65th anniversary of D-Day, where many young men sacrificed for our freedoms. Don't forget the many who are still doing that today! Tell a service member how much his/her service is appreciated!

--Don't forget Flag Day on June 14th! It would be a beautiful sight to see an American flag hanging from the front porch of every home in Lawrence County!!

--A message from Kim Johnson:

Hello,
I have it set up where we can have our bake sale, next week, Friday the 12th, and Saturday the 13th at K-mart. I thought we should start at 10:00, and stay till it slows down, or we sell out. Also, I have it set up where we can do a car wash at K-Mart too. They won't have the water turned on for us till 10:00. That is set for Saturday. The bake sale is Friday, and Saturday, the car was is Saturday only! I need all the volunteers I can get. And we need young people to help with the car wash! We also need to make signs.

My phone number is 275-0246. My cell is 583-4736

Please pass this along,

Thanks, and God Bless!
Kim Please call Kim if you can bake goodies, help with the bake sale or help with the car wash!!!

Announcements:

The Vet-to-Vet organization is a VA approved peer support group for veterans who are having troubles adjusting after deployment.

Effective immediately Vet to Vet Bloomington will be meeting at a new location at a new time. VFW Post 604 (At this time the sign in front reads Mahony Homes)2404 Industrial Park DriveBloomington, Indiana 47404Monday nights - 7 PM The Post is not open for business and will not be for a few months however there is meeting space available. Once the post is open Cathi Johnson, Post Commander and New Vet to Vet Peer Facilitator has assured vet to vet Bloomington she can meet our requirements of having the meeting there without veterans passing through the bar and provide separate restroom facilities for the vet to vet meeting attendee's. We now have a home and a place to keep our materials for meetings without carrying them around and passing books back and forth among us. I am excited about this new change and hopeful the exposure to more veterans, word of mouth, and acceptance will increase attendance.
