My son, Royce (RP) will be deployed to Iraq on Thursday, June 29th. He will celebrate his 21st birthday the day before deployment--June 28th! He lands in Prague for a 3 hour layover, lands in Kuwait, and then will drive his FMTV(?), accompanied by a Stryker unit to Mossul, via Baghdad. Please keep him and his entire Stryker Brigade--3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division out of Ft Lewis, WA-- in your prayers. Please keep me in your prayers also--I'm a very nervous mother! Any information you can give me is much appreciated. Thank you!
God Bless Our Troops!
Nancy

I have spent some time working with the Army especially in Viet Nam in the late 60's. The local Armory has tactical vehicles (aka trucks, jeeps, Humvees, etc) you can see if you drive around by the Girls Club. Now the new nomenclature is FMTV, "Family of Tactical Vehicles". Let's just say they are assorted big trucks!
http://www.army.mil/fact_files_site/fmtv/index.html will let you see the rigs RP may be driving! Hope this helps a bit . I'm sure he has been trained to do what his assignment is. You can be proud of his service. We are.

Nancy,
I am a mom of a US soldier that is in Bagdad right now since September for his second tour, and I wish I could make this whole situation for you much easier, but I wouldn't be honest if I told you I could. I can tell you that first off, no news is good news and a statment my son says to me all the time, and that is to keep the faith. I will keep you, your son and your family in my prayers and know that your not alone in this terrible situation, we're all here for you. Norma
Norma, please tell me about how you communicate with your son. How long does it take for mail to reach there? How often do they get mail call? is he able to e-mail? does he get in contact with you very often? My son deploys in October and I need to find out all I can. Thanks for your help. R
