Weekly Newsletter 05/18/2008

Good Afternoon-- It turned out to be a beautiful weekend! We got our lawn mowed, trimmed, and now we're working in the garden getting ready to plant our tomatoes, green beans, squash, peppers , etc, and I now believe Summer is on the way!!! If you ever feel the urge to enjoy the great outdoors, but don't quite know where to go to enjoy the day--the Peabody garden could always use a weed puller or two!!!

--Congratulations to Jordan and Kiersten Wheelock--the proud parents of son, Carsen, born on May 14, 11:29 am! Carsen weighed 7 lb 10 oz and was 20 in long. Jordan is in Iraq, and Kiersten is living with her parents in Bedford while Jordan is deployed!

--Our "Tour of Iraq" continues!! We meet at the Thornton Park Pavilion every Tuesday at 6 pm and walk for about an hour! Please plan to join us, but if you cannot--please email your mileage to me every week, so that I may add it to our totals! On June 3rd, at our walk--I will show the progress we have made on our journey through Iraq. If you have a loved one serving in Iraq, we will mark it on the map and make sure we stop by to say "Hi!" and give out a hug or two!!

--IMPORTANT MEETING for HHAFFA Hoofers!! On Monday, June 2nd at 6 pm, HHAFFA Hoofers will meet at the HHAFFA office, so that you may turn in your money collected for Relay For Life, we may plan for the Relay events and get all our plans in order! Did I mention that this is an IMPORTANT MEETING??

--Kimberly Sterrett emailed me to let me know that she and her family attended Armed Forces Day held at O'Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday, May 17th. She said, "It was great for the children and they had a lot of adult info booths--stuff I didn't even know about. I would highly recommend it to everyone for next year . . . .well worth the drive" I can't wait to hear all about the information Kimberly acquired and all about the tribute to troops!

--I want to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to view "Showing Gratitude"--so I am sending the address again! Please send this on to everyone in your address book! It is awesome and helps carry on what our organization is all about! You may view the movie at http://www.gratitudecampaign.org/shortmovie.php
Watch it, and you'll become as big a fan as I am!!!

--Please continue to keep all our military personnel in your thoughts and prayers! Don't forget to send cards and boxes, letters of support and encouragement, and news from home to all the young men and women serving in our Armed Forces. God Bless Our Troops and their families back home!!

--Get ready for upcoming events: Relay For Life, "Home of the Brave" concert, Candlelighting Ceremony, 4th of July parade, and remember our weekly "Tour of Iraq"!!

I'm proud to be associated with HHAFFA, its members, and proud and honored to be able to serve those who first served us--our military!
Nancy Peabody Chairperson, HHAFFA
