Weekly Newsletter 5/11/2008
Happy Mother's Day! I hope all mothers, grandmothers and spouses received their Mother's Day corsages and wore them with pride to church and family gatherings! I enjoyed people commenting on my red/white/blue corsage, so that I was given the opportunity to brag about my son serving in the Army!
We've had some rough weather lately, so I know we are all ready to get out and enjoy the Spring! Haven't all the flowering shrubs and trees been beautiful this year? My lilacs outside my bedroom window just popped this past weekend, and their scent was just heavenly!! On my daily walks, I've really enjoyed seeing the beautiful, bright azaleas and enjoying the scent of spring!
--Our "Tour of Iraq" continues!! We meet at the Thornton Park Pavilion every Tuesday at 6 pm and walk for about an hour! (We also do as much talking as walking!) Remember that if you cannot attend our weekly walk to please continue to walk on your own, and email me with your weekly mileage!
--Relay For Life!! IMPORTANT MEETING!!!! On Monday, June 2nd at 6 pm, "HHAFFA Hoofers" will meet at the HHAFFA office, so that you may turn in your money collected, we may plan for the Relay events, order t-shirts (for all who raise $100 or more), and get all our plans in order! IMPORTANT MEETING!! I hope I have given plenty of time for you to make plans to attend, because this is an IMPORTANT MEETING!!
--A few weeks back, I shared with everyone a celebration for Armed Forces Day to be held on Saturday, May 17th at O'Reilly Raceway Park. It is called the 2008 Indiana Blue Star Salute. It is "An Armed Forces Day Celebration" sponsored by the Hendrick's County Blue Star Mothers, American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary, among others. For more details about the event, go to www.hcbluestar.org
--Don't forget to continue to send boxes, letters of support, and cards to all our young men and women serving in our Armed Forces!
--I received an email from Lisa Henry. There was a small error in the address given for Joel and his new bride. If you get your cards returned, please remail them, and if you haven't sent a card of congratulations, please send it to:
Mr and Mrs Joel Henry
209 A Sorrell Drive
Copperas, TX 76522
Continue to keep all our young men and women serving in our Armed Forces, and their families, in your thoughts and prayers!
